About the circuit
WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, located in Monterey, California, is a renowned motorsport venue with a rich history and unique features. Built in 1957, the track was created in response to the need for a safer racing environment following fatalities at nearby Pebble Beach Road Races. The circuit is famous for its challenging layout, particularly the "Corkscrew" turn, which is a sharp, plunging turn that drops 59 feet within 450 feet of track, making it one of the most challenging in motorsport. The track measures 2.238 miles in length and incorporates 11 turns, taking advantage of the natural topography to create elevation changes and demanding corners that test the skills of racers. It has hosted a wide range of motorsport events including IndyCar, MotoGP, and various historic racing series. In addition to racing, Laguna Seca serves as a community venue, hosting events that benefit local charities, and integrates environmental stewardship into its operations. The track underwent significant safety upgrades over the years to meet modern racing standards and continues to be a beloved destination for racing fans around the world.
