About the circuit
The Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, located near Ventnor on Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia, is renowned for its picturesque and challenging layout. The modern circuit was first used in 1952, with significant renovations leading to its reopening in 1988. The 4.445 km track, featuring 12 turns, is famous for hosting major motorsport events such as the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix and the Superbike World Championship. The circuit has a rich history in Australian motorsport, originally hosting events on public roads in the late 1920s and 1930s, including the first Australian Grand Prix in 1928. The current circuit's notable events include the Armstrong 500 in the 1960s, which later evolved into the Bathurst 1000, and the Australian Touring Car Championship rounds. The track is well-loved for its high-speed corners and stunning coastal views, making it a favorite among drivers and fans alike.
