About the circuit
Circuit Zandvoort, nestled in the dunes near the North Sea in the Netherlands, is a historic motorsport track known for its challenging layout characterized by fast, sweeping corners and a famous hairpin called Tarzan corner. Originally opened in 1948, Zandvoort has hosted many memorable Formula One races and was a regular fixture on the F1 calendar until 1985. After a long hiatus, it rejoined the Formula One schedule in 2021 following extensive renovations, including the addition of banking to some corners to meet modern F1 standards. The track's layout, deeply influenced by its natural dune setting, offers a unique driving experience, often described as a rollercoaster ride, owing to its undulating nature. Despite its modernization, Zandvoort retains an 'Old School' racing feel, with tight corners that make overtaking a significant challenge, enhancing the excitement during races. Today, besides hosting the Dutch Grand Prix, Circuit Zandvoort serves as a venue for various motorsport events and offers a range of experiences for racing fans, from track days and driving experiences to professional racing events. The track's proximity to the beach and its scenic setting also make it a popular destination for visitors.
